Phil Ivey has been branded as the greatest poker competitor on the globe by many of the top-ranked professionals. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to New Jersey before reaching turning 1. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante Five-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was addicted to poker and wished to pickup everything he possibly could about poker. He routinely told his parents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. Phil didn’t let the detrimental feedback from others kill his ambition of becoming one of the greatest poker players on the planet.
He started playing intently after acquiring a false ID by the name of Jerome. He practiced his game at the poker rooms of Atlantic City. The initial few years for him were a teaching period and winning was not a regular outcome at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and won his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha match. At the last table he defeated many of the better known professionals including "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He decided to take his skills to the successive level and headed out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players on the planet. Phil credits his achievements to hard work and an undying passion for poker. Phil states that he’s picking up skills every day and is incredibly abashed about his accomplishments. He admits to making errors in each game of poker and always aspires to get better.
Despite the fact that Phil has won some big tournaments, he favors winning cash games on a normal basis.
