Phil Ivey has been branded as the best poker contender on the globe by quite a few of the top-ranked pros. Phil was born in Riverside, CA and relocated to NJ before his first birthday. His papa taught Phil one cent-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From that point on, he was addicted to poker and wished to pickup every little thing he could about the game. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not allow the negative feedback from others annihilate his ambition of being one of the greatest poker players on the planet.

Phil started competing intently after getting a fake ID by the name of Jerome. He honed his game at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The first number of years for him were a teaching opportunity and winning was not a normal thing at the time. He made his mark at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st WSOP bracelet, in a $2, 500 Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he defeated many of the well known professionals which includes "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.

Phil made a decision to take his game to the next level and moved out west to Sin City. He continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the greatest players in the world. Phil credits his success to dedication and a continuing passion for poker. He states that he’s learning every single day and is quite abashed about his success. Phil admits to making mistakes every single session of poker and constantly aspires to improve.

Despite the fact that Phil has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning money games on a regular basis.
