Pai Gow Poker is a modern game with ancient origins. Built on the old Chinese tile game and the current American version of poker, Pai Gow poker combines the eastern with the wild west in an awesome game for beginner level gamblers.
Pai Gow is a poker game that puts the player vs. the house, unlike almost all other poker games that players bet with other players. By competing against the dealer, beginner players don’t need to be concerned about other, more experienced gamblers winning their mulla.
A further Pai Gow edge is the relatively leisurely game play, newcomers are able to take their time and scheme while not needing to make hasty choices.
It’s also easier to participate in for an extended time with only a small bit of money after all, to lose, both of your hands needs to be lower than both of the houses hands.
Pai Gow is played with 53 cards; the familiar 52-card standard deck and one joker. The gambler is given 7 cards face up and the croupier is given 7 cards face down.
A 5 card hand and a 2 card hand need to be made from the seven cards, the five card hand has to be better than the 2 card hand. To win, a player is required to have both of his hand values to be higher than the dealer’s.
